or, Welcome Maisie!

“Only scream outside. Only grunt outside.” (The first one is a variation on our rule: Don’t scream inside.. The second.. ?)
“Daddy, may I grow up? May I grow up soon?”
“Caterpillar, beautiful butterfly? I grow up soon. I grow up, beautiful butterfly with wings.”(Pointing to her shoulder blades)
(After I added a second monitor to our desktop computer) “Why have two putadors? Why? Why?”
It’s been a long time, but we’re on the road to organization and more frequent posts. We’ve been busy, see? We’ll want to spend time in the office uploading photos and whatnot now ![]()
Before:
After:
Mommy: Rana, what do you want to do tonight?
Rana: Umm….park, polish feet, paint hands, play backward. (Translation: I want to go to the park, have you paint my toenails and fingernails and play in the backyard).
M: What is your favorite movie?
R: Tinkerbell (Translation: Peter Pan).
M: Rana, what is Tim doing right now?
R: Running.
M: Rana, what is Kailey doing right now?
R: Sleeping, no…wake. Translation: She’s sleeping, no she’s awake.
R: Daddy home!! Daddy derage!! Translation: (garage) Daddy came home!
Rana’s vocabulary and understanding of language is really taking growing. She is even starting to use different verb tenses! Adelle, is growing too. She is even more interested in electronics than Rana was at this age! She has been able to sit for a month now. She wants to crawl, but has no desire to roll over. Rolling is over rated anyway!
We are hoping to post a video blog soon so you can see the girls.
We have Laurana here with us right now, and wanted to interview her a bit:

Here’s the Technicolor streaming version!
This afternoon I am exhausted, but can’t sleep. I just tried and got out of bed to write this, hoping it will help and then I will go back to bed and try again. I really want some chocolate and there isn’t any in my kitchen. I ate a delicious sandwich with colby jack cheese, avocado, and a vine ripened tomato. Half way through the sandwich I thought, “some chocolate would taste really good after this.” So I finished my lunch and started to look for chocolate. Which is silly because I know there isn’t any because I looked for some yesterday too. Sure enough, the only chocolate I found was the can of hot cocoa mix that has been in our cupboard since Feb 2006.
I don’t want some lousy excuse for cocoa. I don’t even want good cocoa, but I’m sure I would settle for it. I want pure 62% chocolate. I tried having more avocado, it did not satisfy my want for chocolate. I tried going the complete opposite route and ate a slice of pickle. This only made me thirsty. I then ate a fruit roll up. (Yuck!) Now I need to brush my teeth to get everything un-stuck and scrub the pink dye off my tongue.
Here is the problem with liking DARK chocolate. They don’t sell it in small quantities, ie. a daily ration. OK, that is not the root of the problem. The root of the problem is this, I will finish whatever amount of chocolate I have. I may not do it in one sitting, but it will be gone by the end of the day. So really the problem is with my lack of self discipline, but let’s blame the chocolatiers!
The Wiggles are Laurana’s favorite musical group. She calls them “Weebles.” They have a song called, “Point Your Fingers and do the Twist.” Laurana dances around pointing her “Mingers.” It is one of my favorite songs. Laurana likes it too, but alas we’ve decided that we don’t want her to watch TV anymore. I will miss the Wiggles. We found a lot of 11 Wiggles CDs for sell on Ebay. We will win them! I must have Greg, Murry, Anthony and Jeff in my life. I’m not sure I know how to go through my morning with out hearing Captian Feather Sword sing about his dolphin friends. And then there is Henry the Octopus, I will miss watching him dance in his eight legged pants. Dorothy truly is my favorite dinosaur. I’ve just started to get to know Wags the Dog, but I like how he dances.
I am sure I would discover many interesting things about myself if I stopped to ponder why I truly enjoy The Wiggles, but I have to go entertain Laurana. We aren’t letting the TV do that anymore.
We will call Adelle “Mutt” and Laurana “Jeff.”
Mutt was looking pretty rolly polly (not to be confused with Rolie Polie Olie) this morning. I think she grew last night. Brad measured the girl’s waists. They are the same! 18.5 inches.
This is remarkable because clothing makers have designated 18.5″ to be the size of a 6-12 month old. Apparently both our 2 month old and our 2 year old are the size of a 6-12 month old! What is even more remarkable is that neither girl looks odd. Jeff looks tall and muscular and Mutt looks cuddly, but not fat.
You can see that we would often delay taking the monthly pictures until late at night with Laurana. That’s not an option with Adelle now that Rana is sleeping on that bed at night. Maybe Adi will turn into even more of a morning person than Laurana (oh please let it not be so).
