CHOCOLATE!!!

by Sarah

This afternoon I am exhausted, but can’t sleep. I just tried and got out of bed to write this, hoping it will help and then I will go back to bed and try again. I really want some chocolate and there isn’t any in my kitchen. I ate a delicious sandwich with colby jack cheese, avocado, and a vine ripened tomato. Half way through the sandwich I thought, “some chocolate would taste really good after this.” So I finished my lunch and started to look for chocolate. Which is silly because I know there isn’t any because I looked for some yesterday too. Sure enough, the only chocolate I found was the can of hot cocoa mix that has been in our cupboard since Feb 2006.

I don’t want some lousy excuse for cocoa. I don’t even want good cocoa, but I’m sure I would settle for it. I want pure 62% chocolate. I tried having more avocado, it did not satisfy my want for chocolate. I tried going the complete opposite route and ate a slice of pickle. This only made me thirsty. I then ate a fruit roll up. (Yuck!) Now I need to brush my teeth to get everything un-stuck and scrub the pink dye off my tongue.

Here is the problem with liking DARK chocolate. They don’t sell it in small quantities, ie. a daily ration. OK, that is not the root of the problem. The root of the problem is this, I will finish whatever amount of chocolate I have. I may not do it in one sitting, but it will be gone by the end of the day. So really the problem is with my lack of self discipline, but let’s blame the chocolatiers!

You are a good writer, Sarah. I could relate to your search for chocolate and that there are times that nothing else will do.

I feel your pain! I too scrounge through all my chocolate hidey holes, but there is nothing. I had a piece of See’s this morning as soon as I was out of bed. I’ll drink the syrup from the Hershey’s bottle. I pickup chocolate chips off of the floor of the pantry, that have been laying there for who knows how long. Hang in there! This too shall pass! “Sweet” Sarah,

Oh how I can relate to wanting something sweet after the noon and dinner meals. I enjoy chocolate so very much, but since I figured out that it is
one of the things that brings on migrains I had to make a choice. A couple
of times I even went ahead and ate the chocolate and knew within 24 hours
I would have a headache, so I used yet another medication tablet to kill it
off. I also decided this is not the way to go. I had to repent and start over.
When I pray God meets me in my desire and gives me strength to say “No”
to myself and I truly am happier within. I must also say this: I was at the
grocery store yesterday and had a sweet tooth attack. Instead of buying
chocolate, I bought one eighth of a pound of black licorish jelly beans. That
equals about 10 to 15. So far I have made them last 24 hours. Sarah, I will
be praying for you too. Have a very blessed day. I love you, Aunt Sue

    Hello Sarah,

I know that Hershey’s sells dark chocolate kisses, which can be rationed daily as long as you do not eat the whole bag in one sitting. :) Which I know can be tempting.

Sarah, Trader Joes sells dark chocolate in a round tin for travelers-its in small wedges! I can actually make it last a few weeks! It satisfies the craving that youve so aptly mentioned, without the guilt of too much sugar and fat. I wish I has some right now, as I am in a hotel on the Amalfi coast, with nary a Trader Joes in sight-go figure! Lyra, Larry and I are soon on a ferry boat to Positano to meet up with Angela and Casper (coming in from Rome). And then were off to Venice. Excuse the lack of apostrophes, as I cant find them on this Italian computer. Love, Sharon
